LUNCH ACCOUNTSThe following are this month’s lunch and breakfast totals:       Reduced Breakfast - $4.80    Full Pay Breakfast -   $12.80                     

Reduced Lunch      - $6.20     Full Pay Lunch       - $36.00

LUNCHROOM NEWSSTARTING, TUESDAY, MAY 1ST THERE WILL BE NO CHARGING ALLOWED IN THE LUNCH ROOM.  If a student does not have enough money in their account to pay for the meal they will not be allowed through the line.  

RESTITUTIONFor any student that has received a NG, restitution is being offered each Tuesday from 2:45pm to 3:45pm in Room 302.  The cost is $5 per point for each point over six in any one class.  If you have questions please contact Paula in the Main Office.  

FEES AND FINES There is a new list posted in the office window of students that owe the school money.  All debts need to be cleared BEFORE a student can officially check out of school or receive a yearbook.  Please don’t wait till the last week to take care of everything.  

ELECTIONSInterviews have been conducted and those eligible to run have been contacted.  Campaigning will begin Monday, May 7th and run through May 11th.  Posters can be hung Monday May 7th.  Skits (no longer the 90 seconds) will be shown over Channel One Wednesday and Thursday. Voting will take place Friday May 11th.  

STATE DRAMA RESULTSOur HMS Drama students helped the high school Drama Team earn Superior ratings at the State Competition and represented us very well.  Congratulations to: Curis Thygerson for taking 3rd in State in a Dramatic Monologue, Rebeka Amodt and Kaylee Bjelland earned Straight Superiors in Pantomime and Overall Superiors as actors in “Into the Woods”, Maddie Keith and Sara Jones took Overall Superiors as actors in “Into the Woods”. Sam Jones was the Assistant Director of all events.  A big thanks to Mrs. Harvey for all her help and direction.  

LIBRARY NEWSThe end of school is fast approaching! Students need to have all books returned to avoid late fees.  If late fees are accumulated, they need to be paid ASAP.  All books need to be returned by May 7th.  No books will be checked out after that date.  CONGRATULATIONSCongratulations to Beka Amodt for recently being named Miss Virgin.  Her court consists of Kloie Wilson 1st attendant and Abby Horton 2nd attendant.    The Kayenta Street Painting Festival recently concluded and once again our students represented HMS well. Annie Bistline, Andria Webb and Lesley Gutierrez won 2nd place in the 9th-12th grade category.  Other students that participated were Hal Stout, Ethan LeBaron, Addison Ashcroft, Alexis Woodard and Kelcie Crosby.  

FACS NEWSThe week of May 7th thru 11th will be Teen Living Baby Week.  This is when the students have the opportunity to make flour sack babies and to have those babies with them 24/7.  What a great learning experience! The Foods and Nutrition Class will be taking their State Test on Thursday, May 10th.  

THOUGHTS FROM MR. ANDERSEN“I just wanted to write a note of thanks to the amazing students at HMS and the parents who prepare them to come to school.  It was a great year, filled with a lot of work, preparation, and hopefully some fun.  The students are looking forward to getting their scores back from the DWA and the End of Level Tests.  So am I!  We scored very well on our test last year and hope this spring’s results will be as good or better.  Thank you for all that you have done to bring them along.  It is not an easy task.  You are to be congratulated!  Have a great summer! You are awesome!

LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL-This is the schedule for the last week of school:

Monday:       Regular School Day / Students will be able to see check out cards to see if                       any fines or fees are due

Tuesday:       Students will go to all classes and check out / once the card is complete it                        will be turned into office and yearbook given if bought / BBQ / games /                              yearbook signing /

Graduation 7:00pm @ DSCWednesday:  Students that did not finish checking out Tuesday, may come  and finish / busses will run at 10:00 am / school will be locked at 10:00 am

READ-A-THONThe Read-a-thon was a great success!  The students brought in $2769.43.  This money will be going towards a COW (Computers on Wheels). Thank you so much students and parents that supported this activity.  And a special thank you to the PTA for all their time and help in making this a reality.  A big thank you also to all the businesses that donated prizes.  

TESTING-Testing will be going on through May 18.  Please make sure and check the calendar for the teachers and dates they will be testing.  It is important that students at school on time and ready to go. 

MUSIC DEPARTMENTThe final concerts are just around the corner.  The Band Concert will be on Thursday, May 10th at 7:00pm.  The Guitar and Percussion Classes will be performing on Wednesday, May 16th at 5:30pm with the Choir following at 7:30pm.  On Thursday, May 17th, the Elementary Orchestra will perform at 6:00pm with the HMS Orchestra finishing up the night at 7:00pm.

YEARBOOKSYearbooks are now $29.00.  

HEADS UP!Just a heads up on next year’s school fees.  Fees can start being paid and schedules picked up Monday, August 1st, 7:30am to 3:00pm.

8th grade fees:

There will be a $5.00 mailer fee added on to the Required Fees if a current e-mail address is not on file.

Yearbooks can be purchased at the time fees are paid for $20.  A $5.00 deposit will hold the yearbook at that price, and can finish being paid off during the school year.  If a deposit has not been made, each month the cost will go up $1.00.

No need for a student to come if all checked out on Tuesday the 22nd.
