Michael Carter | Science Teacher

Education: B.S. in Chemistry/Mathematics from SUU, M.S. in Biochemistry from BYU

About me: I was planning to be an anesthesiologist but took a detour to do Biochemistry at BYU, then became a Health inspector for 8 years before figuring out I could teach. I have been teaching ever since for the last 14 years.

Outside of School: I am married with 6 children (with only 2 left at the high school ) I am the Hurricane High Swim Coach and also managed the Hurricane Pool (hopefully again when it opens back up). I also work part time at the Hurricane Fire Station as an AEMT/Firefighter. I love to be busy.

About Me: I grew up in Ohio and moved to Utah when I was 18 years old. I started my teaching career in Northern Utah, but I absolutely love living down here in Hurricane! I have a great husband, 4 kids, and the cutest dog ever.

Outside of School: I love to travel and visit new places! When I am home, you will find me reading, hiking, watching great movies, or playing pickleball.

About Me: I spent 5 years working at a residential treatment center before joining WCSD. I taught 7th grade science for 3 years at Desert Hills Intermediate. I came to Hurricane Middle school in 2023, and I have loved every minute of it!

About Me — I grew up in southern Utah, specifically in Virgin, Utah. I am the Hurricane High school tennis coach for girls and boys and I love to play all racket sports. I have a beautiful wife and 4 wonderful daughters. I love my family and I love my job.

Outside of School — I love to play pickleball, tennis, ping pong, badminton and basketball. I enjoy watching football. I like to go on hikes and adventures with my family.
