School Land Trust/Community Council Meeting

Held on December 10th, 2024

Those in attendance were:

Shaun Jaggi (principal)

Cody Olsen (Staff Manager)

Jarom Healey (Counselor)

Melissa Wadsworth (Counselor and Parent)

Jeff madsen opened up the meeting then turned the time over to Shaun Jaggi, principal.

Mr Jaggi addressed what the school was doing to protect the students from harmful social media. He talked about our school data and where we stood with the other schools in the district. We are doing good in Language Arts and Science. Our biggest challenge is Math We are sending our Math teachers to a conference to learn additional skills in math over spring break.

Jarom Healey went over the data and showed how he could follow all the students that were failing. Every Monday he would send a report out to the teachers.

We talked a little about our ELL students and how we might make them feel more a part of the school community.

First meeting -introductions.

Previously viewed State Land Trust videos were discussed.

Reviewed our school Motto: Respect- Responsibility- Kindness

Reviewed last year’s budget and how the money was spent

Our Resource Officer discussed student safety and safe routes for students.

Discussion:

  • Reviewed minutes from last meeting.
  • STL money review and voted affirmative for the plan for school year 2024-2025. Pending school board approval to determine if a meeting is needed in March. If approved no addition meeting needed, if not approved will need to meet in March.
  • May need to adjust the number of members on the community council board.

Discussion:

  • Reviewed minutes from last meeting.
  • Explained the accreditation process as our school is going through this now.
  • Joe explained the information gathered from Data Gateway and how our school Is doing. Discussed USBE HMS school performance (This is a school report card). Also, discussed how his new math program is working and what results we hope to see from this new platform.
  • Professional Development funding for teacher training.
  • Jeff asked how the community council could help, reduce class sizes by offering more classes
  • Performance Matters is being utilized by the science department to help the science program improve student scores.
  • Will need to change the next meeting from February 27 to February 20.
  • STL money review and plans for next school year.

1)   Joe Gubler (Math teacher) did a power point presentation on how we compare with other schools on our math scores and how we have improved.

2)  Discussed how to keep our students safe with the use of digital technology

3)  Went over the district policy#3700

4)  Talked about our goals for this year: Improve 8th grade math scores, help our ELL/ESL students, as well as the SPED department

5)  We would like to reduce class sizes and encourage teachers to go to Professional Development training for the upcoming year.

 

Next meeting will be held on Jan. 23rd 2024

We will discuss our school accreditation. Areas that we did well on and areas that we need to improve.

  • Talked and discussed responsibilities of using the SLT money
  • Went over our school mission: Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness
  • Went over some training of community council members
  • Talked about using SLT money for math, science and language arts. Used a lot of money to buy preps from teachers, to eliminate the large classes
